The Danish government never had an official website where it could communicate its policies in a coherent way directly to the public, unlike many of it’s counterparts in eg. Norway, Sweden, Germany and USA. The government wanted a visually appealing site with lots of videos and large infographics, which motivated people to read and share political information. The result was a striking, but technically challenging, visual design with many different design elements and content pages presented as overlays to the frontpage and section pages.
This talk focusses on how we handled the challenges of building this highly flexible design and at the same time keep a high performance, working with an unusually tight security setup and still managing to create a good editorial experience.
